Portrait with graphite and white charcoal

Someone asked me to make him a drawing of his friend and his dog, although I normally don’t draw people. I was quite honored that he trusted me on this one (and SO nerveous!!) I suggested graphite and white charcoal on Strathmore toned tan paper. Sometimes you have to create outside your comfortzone. This medium came much more natural to me than watercolor where I more often work with. I framed it and they were very happy with it.

I think I’ll do this again in the future!

@Appelmoes You captured the Boxer energy so well! As a Boxer owner, that facial expression really hits. Your friend must be thrilled! Nice work.

It is a great portrait, beautiful and realistic! Thank you for sharing. I hardly have a chance to come to the forum lately, and when I do, it’s late and usually just click the “like” little heart. I still enjoy greatly to see all the posts and wonderful art posted such as yours!

This is terrific Applemoes!

I haven’t tried white charcoal yet but this is so promising …I intend to now!
