Sepia Hawk from Getting Sketchy

My Hawk from getting sketchy. I used the smoother side of canson mi teintes and sepia pencil from conte a paris (not pastel)
My paper ripped a little when tape came off.

Hi Sonia -

I have a set of conte crayons that have NEVER been used. Might have to think about doing this one.

Terri hello,

If you do, let me know what you think. I didn’t like the feel of the sepia pencils to be honest. When blending it with the tortillion it would stain the paper making it hard to have a loose edge, then the first time I blew off some eraser shavings, a whole bunch of dust came off. It’s has a very unique feel.

I also used the smooth side. I don’t have Conte (I was going to buy, but the delivery charge was three times the price of the crayons). I’ll keep a watch on the prices and maybe buy in future.

@janed ,

Your hawk is so good! What kind of material did you use? I love it.

@lenetg137-

Thank you for being so encouraging. I actually am not too crazy about my hawk, since I couldn’t quite control/understand the way the sepia pencil works or delivers the material, nor blend or control the values or edges better. I’m not sure I’d do another sepia drawing any time soon. I’m pouting :angry: haha
I must add that I’m getting better understanding about drawing free hand based on observation only

Thanks @Meme5 see photo. I used a Mungyo pastel, in hindsight I think Rembrandt would have worked better. Conte a Paris pastel pencil and white CarbOthello pencil.
