Hi everyone. Thanks for posting your snow dog progress. Here is where I am before the start of lesson 3 (with 1 hour of drawing/tracing time and 3 hours of painting). You’ll notice that I still have more work needed on the face. I decided to do some light washes to start blocking in the color locations on the body. I think this will help me to protect the areas where highlights will be located. My painting is being done at 11 x 17.

Everyone’s ‘snow dog’ looks great! I do have a sketch done, but it may be on hold for a while. Enjoy seeing everyone else’s progress, these all look great!
Teri
WOW!
Everyone’s Snow Dog is amazing!
I messed up my picture by using watercolor pens rather than a regular watercolor brush.
I’m thinking about starting over with a new sketch and then using a regular watercolor brush.
Please forgive me for not being that smart, but how did everyone post there beautiful Snow Dog pictures on the forum?
Thank you
Stormy
Hi Stormy - I will answer your question about how to post photos on the forum. When you hit the REPLY button to start typing your message you need to look ABOVE where you are typing your message and look for the icon of a little miniature photo/drawing. I usually type my message first, hit the enter button to drop down a line, and then hit the “photo icon”. Then it will automatically put up a box with the files in your computer. Select your photo and click “OPEN”. And you’ve now attached your own image. Let me know if you need any more clarification. Hope to see your images here as you work on your Snow Dog live lesson.

Miss Terri,
Thank you so much for your help.
I will start trying to post my work .
I didn’t post my Snow Dog because I messed up & it looks awful.
Everyone’s looks like a professional painting compared to mine, but I’m just beginner.
I just need to keep practicing.
Thank you again

Stormy - we all start somewhere and even what you don’t like, helps you to learn. I can’t even begin to count how many things I have thrown away, started again, thrown away, started again and finally fell in love with. Even on this project I started with the size Matt is using, and decided it was just too small for me. So I did the drawing again by tracing it in a 11 x 17 size. And I still have areas I’m struggling with. Don’t worry. It’s just paper and some paint.

robichon,
Thank you for being so kind and thank you the the encouragement.
I am working on my drawing skills.
I’m planning to start the Secrets To Drawing or The 25 Days To Better Drawing.
I just can’t decide which one to start first.
Thank you again

Here’s my snow dog progress after watching live lesson 4. I still plan to go back to the head with a few more details, including refining the eyes. I’m really glad I switched to a 11x17 size which is about double the size of Matt’s painting. The only paint brush I’ve used is the #2 Silver Black Velvet. This brush was talked about in the last chat, and is my favorite watercolor brush. Merry Christmas everyone. I’ll see you in the live lesson next year.

there are not enough emoticons in the world to react to your fabulous work!!!
Maybe I won’t touch mine again until some of those brushes make their way to me.
Brenda - thank you so much for your very kind words.

Wow! This looks amazing, like a photo. The detail
I’m (im)patiently waiting for part 4 to be uploaded. I know it most likely won’t be for a while due to the holidays.
Stormy,
All I have is the sketch and I have not posted it. You can wait and post yours whenever you feel comfortable. The thing is even when we run into a challenge is to have fun and learn from our goof-ups. That is what I do regularly!!
I was glad to see you at the lesson on Wednesday.
Teri
WOW Terri! Looks amazing, but of course no surprise, it is to be expected from an inspiring artist like yourself.
Enjoy your time with your family. See you next year!!
Teri
Stormy,
I forgot to respond to your question about the graphite course to Terri. I started with the Secrets to drawing then followed up with the 25 days to better drawing. They are pretty interchangeable.
Teri (there are two of us incase you didn’t notice Terri Robichin and Teri (me))
Teri,
I hope you’re feeling better & having a wonderful Christmas.
I think you have a wonderful idea, so much to consider.
I think I’m going to try the 25 Days To Better Drawing.
That seems like a good place to start.
Thank you everyone for your kindness to this newbie.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Stormy
Wow! I’m blown away by the progress of everyone. I have missed the last two lessons but did manage to sort of catch up today. I had to try out my new easel my fabulous family gifted me for Christmas! I have not done alot of watercolor so am trying to be not to critical of myself and just enjoy and learn. Hope to make it live this week.
Hi to all my forum friends. I had most of a day to continue work on the snow dog since the 5th live lesson. As you all know by now, this is my favorite medium and I’ve had a lot of practice with it. When I started out, my paintings definitely didn’t look this good. Anyway, once I started painting again I just couldn’t pull myself away. I ended up finishing the dog (including the eyes and fine details on the face). Then I kept going, finishing the stuffed toy and even getting a start on the snow. The snow is the only part that I didn’t finish. I know, I’m working ahead of where Matt is, but I was comfortable with it because of my experience with watercolors. Hope to see all of you at the next live lesson.

Hi Terri, Teri and everyone…Terry #3 here. Terri, your dog is fantastic! Here is my snow dog after lesson 4. I had to miss Lesson 5 last week and really want to catch up. do you know how long it normally takes to have these recordings available? I want to be sure to have time to work through it before Wednesday.
Teresa C
Hi Terry - It’s so fun to have 3 of us with the same name, but all spelled differently (actually my legal name is Teresa, spelled the same as yours). It varies when the live lesson from the previous week is posted, unfortunately you just need to keep checking. Your drawing is looking really good.
