Sonia, the last one was my favorite too. The boy on the right side had his face just 4” above the ground and he was rubbing the dirt on his face. Then when he sat up, he used his sunglasses like a shovel to scoop the dirt back up into a pile. Mom and dad were happily sitting behind him. It was so entertaining.
I would like to invite you to a short sightseeing tour at Düsseldorf.
Düsseldorf is the capital of Nordrhein-Westfalen, a county (Bundesland) of western Germany, pretty closed to The Netherlands.
Though I grew up in a small village and always wanted to spend my life in a rural environment, I am now quite happy living in town. Luckily, it’s only a 15 minutes walk to the nearby forest, with some parks even closer from my place.
Düsseldorf is known for it’s art galleries and the art university, where famous artists like Beuys began their artistic journey back then.
The most famous park is not included, but maybe I can find some pics for you.
Visited Düsseldorf many times way back when Buddy, compliments of The United States Army. Beautiful place and I’m sure it has changed a lot. My favorite was always the Rhine and The Heidelberg Castles. I was stationed in Heilbronn (electronic intel) but traveled all over Europe. Such a beautiful and friendly place. Thanks for posting, Ron
Wow Sonia, have you seen anything like this before? Back in 2014, we had an increadibly heavy storm at my place with lots of rain. About 50.000 old trees were gone for good along with a lot of debris in town. The clouds upfront this storm lucked very similar like the one yours.
I have seen similar clouds many times, usually with severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours. Which, this was a thunderstorm that flew up northeast of us just giving us some awesome scenery and some relief from awful heat. I’m sure the storm hit with heavy rain and heavy winds wherever it went.
Long ago, we had a car totaled with golf size hail, many, many people did too. It was Easter Sunday 2000. A tornado that brought the hail was near but didn’t hit us, it destroyed some buildings including a Domino’s Pizza. That’s all I recall.
Our worst storm was on Father’s Day in 2012. No tornado, but straight line winds and lots of rain. It took down 35 old growth huge trees in our yard. Minimal damage to buildings, ending up with new shingles on roof (thankful that insurance paid for that). Unfortunately the tree removal service with big equipment and 13 guys were here for 5 full days cleaning up the yard and insurance didn’t pay a penny of that.
I so enjoyed reading this sting of posts. Very interesting topics & photos. I am in Frisco, Texas but recently took a trip to Iowa for a family reunion. Photos are always inspiring me to make art. Thank you all for posting
I think we all know by know by now that you like clouds Sonia. So, on Thursday, July 17th the sky was blue and the lake where I live was pretty calm. All I could think of was grabbing a couple of these cloud photos to send your way.
Oh. Em. Gee, Good quality clouds pictures! I love them all, but my favorite is the one with the birds because you captured the true blue from the sky against the wispy clouds!
Never have I ever been able to capture that beautiful blue in any of my hundreds of clouds/sky pictures.
Thank you for thinking of sharing them!! Made me smile BIG!
I live in rural FL, out near the Ocala National Forest. We see a lot of wildlife, including bears and eagles. Our pasture behind the house is a great place to see amazing sunsets, moonlight, and sunrises In front of our house we have a couple cardinal pairs that raise their young. They visit the feeders and get bossed around by hummingbirds. Doves just ignore the bossiness. Once in a while a beautiful hawk lands in a tree or drinks from our bird bath. It’s a wonderful way to start the day with a cup of coffee and a sketchbook.
The days are clicking down way too fast. Yesterday was filled by making final photoshop refinements and printing of my photography entries for the local county fair. The hot tub is where I figure out what frame and matt will be used for each photo. (I re-use the frames from previous fairs.) Then actually getting them in the frames, placed in numerical order, labeled and safely packed in boxes from transporting to the fairgrounds.
At the end of the day all 23 photography entries, and all 14 scrapbooking entries were in the boxes and ready to go. I even went online to fill out my entry registration forms.
I’m still working on Fine Arts. Thankfully, I frame these as they are completed so final labeling and packing won’t take as much time. My count right now is 34 pieces of artwork done, with a possible 8 more to do. With just 11 days left its doubtful I will get them all done, but I’m focused and pushing onward. But for me, its not just about quantity, its about learning, improving and quality too. Thats all for now.
I’ve said it before, I want to be you when I grow up! Not only skilled in art anything, but organizationally gifted as well! Very impressive hot tub, I mean, art work organization and preparedness. I bet your fridge is ran by organized penguins too
You made me laugh out loud for real!
Thank you for being such a good sport and put up with my jokes plus prove my point on your organization skills!
In all seriousness, I am so very thankful about you sharing your process for your community fair entries. It totally is a huge undertaking with the amount of amazing pieces you submit.
I am trying to organize my own art display at an Artwalk in October, have a fraction of pieces compared to you, have yet to label any, and time sure flies!
Not to mention an impromptu Garage sale Saturday as my adult child keeps minimizing her room’s furnishings (and closet), my dishwasher broke, including all things daily life brings. Can I borrow your penguin ?
