Nothing special at my place, just a very long winter. Half of Germany had been frozen and covered with snow including the Baltic Sea. Now it has turned into icy rain and wind. I am so much ready for spring time to come.

I’m searching how I can use the forum. I’m new in every aspect. When I see the paintings here in the forum I decided to wait for one year to show something :)) Beatifull paintings!!

Welcome to the forum. We’re happy to have you join us. We’re a very positive supportive place for artists of all skill levels. If you’re also a member of The Virtual Instructor I recommend you check out the Live classes called Mondays with Matt. They can be watched live or the recorded version.
Right now the series of lessons is called Drawing Bootclass #2. It is for Beginners that are just starting. If you look at some of the posts here on the forum you will see posts from the first three classes. Hopefully you will see that you can start posting your work now, instead of waiting a year. That way we can cheer you on and respond to any questions you may have.

That’s quite impressive. I like that you can use your original photos and then expand from there. I haven’t used AI, I too am 70 (well, in May I will be). I’ll have to have one of my daughters give me a tutorial next time in Boston.

Many of you forgot about this topic, or if you’re new you may not know it exists. So, it was time to bring it back to the top of the list, and I hope others chime in with what is currently happening where they live.
Many of you know that my goal is to participate in my local county fair, the first week of August every year. Each year I strive to complete the 80 total possible entries newly created during the year in: Photography, Scrapbooking and Fine Arts.
Here is a recap of how I’m doing:
In Photography I have 23 of the 24 possible done (don’t know any babies so I won’t have one for that this year).
In Scrapbooking (original “cut & paste” style & digital) I have all 14 entries done.
In Fine Arts I currently have 30 of the 42 possible entries done. So that means I’m still trying to do 12 more in the next 8 weeks.
Here are photo recaps so you get a better idea of what I’ve been doing.

When I’m not doing art I usually go mountain biking or play some music. Here in Tennessee we have a lot of good places to ride, especially where I live.
I play the kalimba (which is an African instrument you probably haven’t heard of) and I’m thinking about learning the piano as well.
Although I’m not a photographer I do get some good photos from time to time, esp. when I’m biking.

) and very interesting instrument! Do you play African music as well? Are you able to play by notes? You are right, I have never heard about it

The kalimba usually just has 17 keys with diatonic notes (no accidentals). This means everything that you play has to be in the key of C major. They work by plucking the tines with your thumbnails and then the sound resonates through the board.
This one has 34 keys and the top row is tuned in C# major so it has all the accidentals required to play more complex music (like jazz and classical). It’s a bit more complicated than my old one mostly because the keys aren’t etched with the names.
I don’t play African music (also I really have no idea what they would play on it). I’m currently working on Viva la Vida, the Sound of Silence, and Für Elise.

Thanks Terri! I had to put my camera on the ground and freeze-frame a super long video to get the clouds one. My GoPro actually works really well for photography even though its designed mainly for video.
I almost never actually take pictures with it because I’m usually filming myself and even when I’m not, taking good pictures at my speeds would be next to impossible. I also do a lot of editing later.
This one was the result of a competition to see who could drop a tiny stair set the farthest. (The spot I landed actually isn’t in this picture.)

Not the most interesting news - but the amazon delivery guy FINALLY arrived with a new stash of cat treats, and she is very very very ready for them. And, uh - before I forget - I turn 55 tommorrow. Will have a nice little party as all the roads around here is closed due to a world tour bicycle race passing through town.
