You have a very Nice view! How cold is it since you’re at lower altitude than that snow?

Sonia

Hello Sonia @Meme5 & Terri @robichon
Sonia the temps have been in the mid 40’s at night & mid 70’s during the day except for the rainy day then mid 60’s during the day.
This week has been one of those times, issues with the car, issues with plumbing so I wanted to share something peaceful.

Hello @aranck1234. Got one cleaned today and was dirty again before I got home. Not as bad as before, but still needs another wash.

I’ve just never heard anything about sand storms. It’s amazing how far away its impact is experienced.

Hello Terri @robichon , these particular storms have originated in West Texas and New Mexico. Ash from wild fires in New Mexico mixed with dust and sand from deserts of west Texas and carried west to east with the high winds and storm system that moved through. These past few days have had is with winds from 20-60 mph. Part of that system is what contributed to the severe tornados that recently occurred in Mississippi. The storm system moved through with various effects from south exetending up to Ohio and Pennsylvania as it moved east. The norther part actually curved around from east to west and repeated storms as it continued to generally move eastward. We had similar sand storms a couple of years ago as the Sarahan dust storms came through from Africa. We get those every 7 years or so from what I understand. Strange weather phenomenons.

That’s a wealth of information right there, thank you. I kew about the Saharan dust from the news, but this is news to me about west texas. Maybe the sand is coming to see me because I miss my sandy rocky desert :desert: faraway land.

Hello Lenet @lenetg137 I was stationed in northern Japan Pacific side in the early 80’s. There would be sand/dust storms originating from China that would reach u. There was no escaping, all the windows closed it still got into the room

I appreciate the background information about these high winds and storms. Interesting.

Sonia,

My apologies, I blame it on my poor memory -lol! I am glad that you didn’t have too much affect by the sandstorm.

I have been where there is minimal wind with sand and yes it does sting, even worse if it gets in the eyes.

I hope that your family is okay.

Jenet @lenetg137 ,

It is interesting how nature works.

Back in the 80’s we were traveling to El Salvador with humanitarian aid due to the severe earthquake that devastate the small country.

Our bus broke down in AZ. We coasted to park under the overpass. It was 118 degrees with 125 mph gust of wind. Dry so we didn’t sweat.

There I definitely felt the sting of the hot wind mixed with sand. But it was worth it to take the aid to El Salvador where I ended up living, in Central American countries for 20 years.

Hi to my forum friends,

With the first day of spring tomorrow, its only right that my camera and I are out and about looking for signs of the spring bird migration here in Minnesota. Here are a few photos that I took yesterday.

In case you didn’t know, I’m a bird watcher. Look at the name of each photo and you will see I have pairs of sandhill cranes (one of my most favorite birds), some very colorful wood ducks and a pair of hooded mergansers.

Sonia @Meme5 , that doesn’t surprise me. I also see that there are wildfires in your vicinity, at least suce that your area can possibly see the smoke plumes. About 500 acres were on fire. Last I time I checked, was about 50% contained. Stay safe.

I love this thread!
I’m in New England- right next to Plymouth and here are some shots from a whale watch I was on this past fall. I live in cranberry country, so the vistas are spectacular in the autumn when the berries are floating in the bogs and the trees are in full color.
It’s March so it’s cold and wet, mostly, but I look forward to better days!
