Finished Joy for a friend… She is totally happy and me too😅 because she sees her horse in this drawing. Joy was a horse full of humor…
It is drawn on 21/29 cm 160 gr/qm White paper with Derwent water pencils and watercolor pencils and normal pencil.

Joy needs quite a time… And many horsestudies.

Now I am working on this…
This animal looks a bit diabolically … upside down not as strong as downside up

21/29 cm white paper 100gr/qm

Thinking about stopping this now🤔… or should I do some background?… what do you think

More layers not possible without damaging the paper (Ichoosed to thin one🤪)… maybe I spray it with matt Lacquer then more layers are possible…

Honestly I am not really happy either the result🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi Elina

I wouldn’t spray. And even if I did it would be better to use what is called a workable fixative, which I believe is mostly used with pastels where media covers the entire piece of drawing paper.

It really looks fine. I recommend calling it done, and move on to a new project.

Thank you for this advice! Yes, it is better to go to an other project then to glue on one with much doubt… It cannot get better:sweat_smile:… And is no joy! And drawing is really joy :folded_hands::raising_hands::heart:

I hope you feeling fine!

@Elina

I think your bat is really good as it is. I really like the fluffy fur and the simple background. Thank you for sharing!
Only note from me is a pencil blender can remove most of the paper graininess.

That looks great the way it is, in my opinion more background would distract from the subject. I have never had good success using a fixative to add layers. Thanks for posting. Ron

@Meme5 thank you for your compliment :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: and your advice:folded_hands:

@rleeelliott thank you🙏… Even for sharing your experience

Finished this today… a mixture of watercolor, derwent inktense and colored pencils on watercoloraper with big tooth.

I think I will make a brake with colors and do a graphite picture next… It feels like needing a pause for progress in drawing with colors.

Graphite Sketches… 80gr paper in a small sketchbook… roundabout 15-20 minutes per scratch… was really joy💗

Hi Elina

I’m enjoying these sketches and can see why they were fun to do. Bet you can’t wait for Gettin’ Sketchy to start again.
