Hi Sonia. Absolutely charming.

Hi Sonia. Absolutely charming.
Terri Robichon
Terri; Your oil painting of your kitty baby is absolutely beautiful. I am also using water, mixable oil paints, but seem to struggle with what seems to be the simple things. When I paint a picture that’s worth sharing and doesn’t look like a kindergarten painted it I will post it.

Hi Donna @Stormy
Post anything you’ve done so you can watch your progress. We all were beginners at one time.

Hi @Stormy -
Since I like detail, it’s probably not surprising that I like small brushes too.
My brushes say they are:
5/0 Royal Majestic 4585 (a script/liner brush) and
10/0 Royal Majestic 4595
They were in an inexpensive set that I bought at Hobby Lobby. I looked online and I believe they are the store brand, now renamed as … The Fine Touch
Synthetic Detail Paint Brushes - 11 piece set
Above is the photo of two brushes that I used a lot. Below is the photo from the Hobby Lobby web site.

Terri W2R’s,
I have those! I used them with the blueberries, and they worked really well for the watercolor pencil activation of the smaller details. They also hold the water really well.
Thank you for sharing the info for when I try oil paint again.
P.S It is so nice that you’re so knowledgeable and talented not only here in the forum, but so much so that you get to be involved in your county’s art event planning! Congrats!

Happy me - I finished another drawing this week. It’s 9 x 12 graphite on white Stonehenge paper. The 100% cotton content is nice to work on. This was part of a “photo challenge” for June, where you get a preselected photo and you recreate it in the media and size of your choosing.

Miss Terri;
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
I’m starting a new painting of my dawg Pipsqueak & I’m not sure how to paint fur.
So, I’m going to see what Matt says in the best way of representing fur.
Unless, you would like to have a course on painting fur since yours looks so realistic.
Thank you again
Stormy
Terri,
Love it! Very nice!

I’m not sure if I should have posted this somewhere else, but…
I’M SO EXCITED!!!
I just got a new pencil sharpener and so far it works perfectly…especially on my pastel pencils!
I bought it at Jerry’s Artarama for $21.00. I can’t believe I’m so happy over a pencil sharpener. I have never had pastels so sharp since I started drawing!
Here’s a picture. It did a perfect job on all 5 pencil types I have .

Terri W2R’s @robichon Beautiful and realistic great values. The detailing is so wonderful! I really like the texture of the Stonehenge paper with the graphite. I’ve always used bristol smooth or vellum. Thanks again for sharing!
Sonia
Bill @pottsie,
I’m happy you’re happy. Not trying to be a debbie downer, however, pastel pencils dull the sharpener blades very very fast. Hopefully this one will beat the odds!
Sincerely your friend in art,
Sonia
Sonia,
I hear you! I’m counting 13 various handheld sharpeners that are basically no good. I have a Westcott Halo that still works well, esp on my Prismacolor pencils. I recently started sharpening with a blade, but it is time consuming and I still can’t get the point I desire. We shall see!
Bill
Thanks for the info. And you can feel free to post anything here. The feed is getting a lot of activity so it’s a good place to put helpful tips and information.

Hi @Stormy -
The cat is the first furry critter I have done with oil paint. Actually, I’ve done very little oil painting. Did you look to see if there is a lesson on it here. I know there is a live lesson of a French bulldog that was fun to do. Check it out. (So I guess there was that one thing I did with fur.)
Terri Robichon
Hi Tanya,
Sounds like it’s time to get drawing again. Nice sketchbook idea.
Terri Robichon
Miss Teri;
Thank you so much for your help.
I looked at the French bulldog to see if I could get any help & advice on how to paint fur.
I’m going to finish watching all the videos in the lesson & see what I can learn.
Thank you again
Stormy
Hi Stormy -
Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to let you know there are 3 Terri’s that participate in the forum, 2 of us are here often.
You will see us kidding around with spelling clarification, which is how you tell us apart.
I’m Terri (with 2 r’s) Robichon
Teri (with 1r) is Teri Pope, also known in the live lesson chat as Artsycrochet
The other is Terry, but I haven’t seen her here for a while.
Have a great day!

Miss Terri (w2r’s);
Please forgive me for the misunderstanding of the spelling of your name.
I will try harder to try & keep everyone’s name straight.
How is Artsycrochet doing?
Please tell her to get well soon & I miss visiting with her.
Thanks again
Stormy
