Thank you. I agree about the color differences. However neither one is the closest to the in person color, besides I’m not a photographer and only use my phone camera

Beautiful and so full of expression! I enjoy drawing birds as well.
Continuing the experiment with pastel ground. Here’s the same red panda on the exact same surface–Fabriano mixed media paper with pastel ground, but this time one is a gouache underpainting and oil pastel on top and a couple of touches of colored pencil. I think this worked better than the soft pastel. Top pic is oil pastel, bottom pic soft pastel. (I forgot to put the bottom of the tail in the soft pastel pic!)
@Meme5 wooooowwww….. So beautiful!
Hi @siffermus
I too have discovered that masking fluid can be quite frustrating at times in terms of keeping sharp edges and limiting where I put it so it doesn’t erase pencil lines. It is also best not to leave it on the paper for extended periods of time (weeks or months) because it can tear the paper when you remove it.
But spattering it to reserve random white spots for snow is an ideal use for the masking fluid technique.

Sorry that it has been awhile, I sent this to the critique, I don’t know if it will get picked, but it’s of Disney’s Hilton Head Island resort during sunset with Inktense Pencil, with gouache restoring highlights.
I haven’t been consistent visiting the forum, but am sure glad I am here seeing this wonderful art being created!
Wow! What an amazing piece! I am so glad you sent it to Matt for critique. So detailed and beautiful. Thank you for postIng. What size is it?
Sonia
What a beauty! The sweetness you captured is unbelievable very well done. What size and media did you use?
Sonia
Well here is my latest drawing. An 8x8 pansy on Legion rising museum board. I used prismacolor and polychromos. I actually touched up the thicker black veins with a black micron pen.
Hi Sonia @Meme5
Thank you for your kind words. This little guy is about 6x9 in./16x20 cm. I have used Faber Castell Polychromos and Derwent drawing pencils on Fabriano FA4 - smooth paper.

This one is from the watercolour workshop. It was really fun to do. Fun to see how much the watercolour changes as you add other medias to enhance it.
Thank you so much for your response, I did forget the size, it’s 20 x 14 inches.
This is another pansy I drew yesterday. 8x8 on legion rising museum matboard with polychromos and prismacolor.
Hi @Samuel
Thanks for sharing your artwork. Sure hope we see it on an upcoming Members Minute.

Hi Sonia.
I love the range of values in this drawing. Without a doubt there are some very rich dark burgundies and very light and nicely rendered white lights. And of course several values in between.
Your artwork clearly shows your understanding of the importance of VALUES in your artwork.
Terri
Hi @siffermus
I’m a sucker for artwork that involves cats, and the eyes on this one are great. Actually, I just like everything about this one. Thanks so much for posting it here for all of us to enjoy.

Terri @robichon
Thank you for your kind words. I finally am getting better at transition between light and dark areas (which is what you said haha). I might be enjoying colored pencils a little too much ![]()

Uh wauuuw! This is so gorgeous - did you burnish? or use solvent?
