Sonia. Yes I know I’ve said it before, but you are very talented. I really like this.

That’s really well done!
Patricia.
Love it! love it! love it!
Patricia.
This portrait is so well done! I particularly how you brought the light in his eyes and on the rest of his face. It really enhances the result!
Patricia.
Hi Barbara.
What a good idea. Like this a lot. Thanks so much for sharing.
Terri Robichon
Thanks so much Patricia. I appreciate your kind words.

Hi Terri,
I’ve seen this picture before…did you post it on MM or before it was done? It’s such a wonderful painting and I think doubly so because I had a sister who spent her entire life in a wheelchair with cerebral palsy. I can imagine the love that goes into your family paintings…such as the other recent post of the picture of your father.
Thanks for sharing. You are always such an inspiration to us all!
Bill
Terri,
As a lifetime florist…I give your rose a up!
Bill
I just have to say that you 3 (I’m sure others as well) absolutely amaze me! How do you do it? You’re like art machines and Terri, you’re like an art factory…chugging out art every few hours. Did you guys go to over-achievers school? I’m kidding of course, but it blows my mind that you accomplish so much. I admire you for being so organized, dedicated, energetic and enthusiastic about your art! I haven’t drawn anything in a week . I did get my paintings delivered to the fairgrounds on Saturday and worked at the fairgrounds yesterday, so I accomplished something. You guys got me all worked up so tomorrow is BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!
Appreciate you all!
Bill
Hi Bill -
I believe I did post this here at the end of 2023 when I started it with hopes of having it done by the end of the year. But since I’m often working on a few things at a time, l lost my momentum with it. Having the deadline of the fair was the boost I needed to go back and finish several pieces of art, this one and the one of my dad were in that group.
Thanks so much for your comments and continued support.

Hi Bill -
I sure hope you let us know how your entries do at your state fair. You’re competing at a higher level than I am and I congratulate your efforts.
In response to your comments, my professional life has always been driven by juggling a lot of balls and meeting deadlines. I guess I thrive in that type of an environment. Setting goals and meeting them is very satisfying and fulfilling. Since my fair is just a week away I’ve needed to pick up the pace (a self imposed decision). But without those goals, I wouldn’t have created some of the artwork that has become the most meaningful to me.
I have also found that art requires a lot of focus. That is valuable because it gives me a mental break from some of the frustrations I’ve been having as my sister’s guardian. (Not problems with my sister, but with her care givers). And ultimately, I just really like to draw and how good it feels to try something that is hard, and have it turn out well.
My current fair update: I have 80 entries that I have registered for. All are done right now except for 4 pieces of artwork. I leave in the morning for a 5 day getaway with 9 of my longtime scrapbooking friends. We started this annual girls only vacation in 2000 - wow, 25 years ago. Most everyone will be scrapbooking or making cards. I on the other hand hope to work on and finish 2 colored pencil drawings (that I haven’t even started yet). The other 2 items just won’t get done this year, and that’s okay.
I enjoyed Matt’s recent critique of your drawing in the members minute. It was a great drawing (and a personal one for you too).
Terri W2Rs
I did my first alla prima oil painting following one of Matt’s live recording. I really enjoy the process. I want to learn more about this technique and apply it to portrait and figure painting. What will be a good next step to move towards my goal?
Terri,
Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail. Again, in amazement, 80 entries is hard to comprehend. I had 6 paintings in non-professional fine arts and 4 non art items in vintage arts and antiques. The fair opens Friday so I will let you know how I did.
Enjoy your time away with your friends! It sounds like a lot of fun.
Bill
Wow, that eagle is absolutely awesome!
Hi Anne @Appelmoes
Thanks so much for your kind words. By the way, I have a sister whose name is Anne, spelled as you do.
I love finding connections with other members.

Hi Sonia -
I think you’re on the artwork diet. Nice drawing.

Hi Friends.
I have been drawing this week (photos attached) at Moosely Memories. This is an annual vacation with 9 of my good friends that we started in 2000. Here’s a group photo of the 10 of us just goofing around. I’m on the far-right side.
