Wow Sonia these are amazing pieces of art love them all. Really really nicely done
I know this isn’t the place to share this, but I just have to share this Been wanting a leather sketchbook holder for ages and ages and decided to order one to specifically fit my sketchbooks. An amazing Ukrainian guy on Etsy made me one and it’s beautiful and I’m delighted
Hi @Dannomiss89 Dan
I absolutely love good design, especially when it is in response to a specific purpose. Nice. I’m sure you’ll use it for years.

Terri,
I didn’t mean to imply that I’d love to get one of those cards, but sure am glad you took it that way haha
Sonia
Hi Sonia. You were on my Xmas card list before I even started making them.
Terri
OMG Dan @Dannomiss89 I love this style. Have seen it from other artists too. I really love the sketchy, cute look of buildings. Assume, you are only able to draw in this style, when you know all about perspective.
Very, very, very nice,
Buddy
Dear Terri, you are amazingly creative!!! Every year, I plan to get all presents ready months before and fail. Your cards are lovely.
Enjoy the coming season,
Buddy
Totally understand you. Best greetings to this ucrainian guy, should you get in contact again.
Buddy
A bit of a mixture of styles on that collage of work
Dear Sonia, may I drink a cup of your hot, fresh made coffee under the tree? Pleeeeeaaaaaase??? The horse is a Haflinger, right? Very common breed in south Germany.
You are increadibly talented,
Buddy
Buddy @Buddy,
It would be nice to share a cup of coffee with y’all while doing some drawing even in the distance for sure!
If you must know, I have no clue about horse breeds, only about free to use ( can’t remember the word) pictures from Pixabay haha.

Another coffee bean study, I had to try it with pastel pencils, this one is a small, light grey pastelmat 5x5 paper. I’m so glad I didn’t do it any bigger because I got tired of the subject, even if it was a different (not too different) coffee bean.
Looks so so real that is awesome
Does anyone else find that one day you are in the groove of drawing and next moment its a real struggle. A drawing I did yesterday and I was experimenting with lighter hatching, but I feel its not as good as what I have been drawing.
Hi Dan -
I know what you’re talking about. When it’s just not feeling right I stop and take a break, or wait a day.
I was wondering if you had tried the Zebra - Rubber 80 pens that I used in a recent Members Minute, and that Maki is known for using. I think you’d really like them for the shading.
Terri Robichon
I have weeks between drawings sometimes. It happens. I’m sure you can/could draw as well as always.
I like the hatching. I haven’t tackled hatching outside the pen n ink experience at all but would like to start. Any tips?
Hello Dan, thank you so much for sharing your lovely drawings.
I love both of your “darker” works and this “lighter” one. With this lighter drawing, I just remembered a masterpiece of Noah Macniel used for a CD jacket of a musician friend of mine:
I really admire someone who knows how to simplify when drawing. I’ve once tried a single line drawing of an hourglass, which actually took me hours to determine how to draw:
One of the things I would love to try in the future is “urban sketching”. I have a collection of a lot of urban sketch works that I’ve found on Instagram and always admire these works. But I’ve got too much work to do right now so I sort of keep postponing tackling it.
Anyways, the lighter drawing can be terrific in its own right. And like Terri says, you may prefer Rubber 80 ballpoint pen if you want to achieve a really, really light and subtle hatching.
