Terri - That’s pretty cool how you persisted and how nice it turned out in the end. I just recently watched someone use alcohol on a pastel landscape painting. I’m going to have to try it sometime.

Very well done, love it
Very beautiful. Love it.
I love the feeling of this. Great job.
Terri, we are glad you decided to continue. You have proved the Winston Churchill saying, “Never, never, never give up”.

Hi Jim @1kidneyJD
I just think it’s important to know that I struggle also. A lot of the time the only difference between something that is bad or marginal and something that’s good is often just having the drive and patience to keep working on it.
I still don’t think that drawing is great, but it is fine for now. And because of my friends here, I have learned that I should give the alcohol a try.
I appreciate your support.

Barbara,
This is wonderful. What a beautiful job. I have never been Kayaking but in CA we would go river rafting or canoeing, and it was a blast. Of course I was much younger then.
Thank you for sharing your artwork.
Teri
Terri with 2r’s,

Bill,
This is amazing, the eyes and expression tell a wonderful story and the textures are beautiful.

I learned rather early that I need to persevere even when I think what I’m doing sucks. I’d get so frustrated when I started judging my work early on in the process. But once things started coming together I was so glad that I didn’t wad it up and toss it. I then started taking several pics showing my progress, which really helped me. One thing I do have to overcome is the feeling that I can’t draw a certain subject. I’m hesitant to draw people and especially hands! (That’s why I was so impressed with your potters wheel). In the picture I drew of my granddaughters on the beach, I bet I erased and redrew the hands a dozen times. I can’t believe I didn’t wear a hole in my paper. I’m attaching a pic of an Indian that I drew with charcoal on Canson grey pastel paper. I never thought I could do this.

Oh my Bill. I love this portrait. You definitely need to do more of them.

That’s amazing Terri, thought it was one of your photo’s at first glance, great job.
Thanks Ron @rleeelliott I appreciate the kind words.

Hello,
So, I decided to post another project that I am working on. It is in process. It is from a picture a friend of my son took and gave me permission to use it as a reference.
This is an oil painting on an 8 x 10 canvas panel with water-mixable oil paints. I first did a blocking in of the areas of the painting and now I am modeling or mapping it out so that I can go back and clean it up with details.
I have just started the modeling stage. If anyone is interested in seeing this process check out Andrew Tischler an oil painting artist from New Zeland.
Her is a link to his YouTube channel: Andrew Tischler - YouTube

Let me know what you think or any suggestions. I still have some pine trees to put in the back and am debating on which if any trees I will put in front of the house as there are a few that block each of the houses and also some of the trees done still need highlights and shadows.
Thanks for taking a look,

Bill,
This portrait is wonderful, as well as all that you have posted here that I have not commented on. I am not on the forum as often as I would like.
Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful artwork.

WOW TERI (with one r) - you continually surprise and amaze me with your artwork. I love this and really appreciate the link that you shared.
Terri (with two r’s) Robichon
Thank you Teri,
I am hoping for the strength to get into it soon. I planned to yesterday, but it just didn’t happen. Maybe today!!
Your comments mean so much to me as I think you are one of the most amazing artists I know.
Teri (with 1r)
Oh, and Andrew Tischler confirms almost everything that Matt teaches in value, using black, composition, etc. and has a lot of energy. If you have time check out some of his older YouTube videos on painting waves or landscapes in New Zealand.
He is really detail oriented. Also, his portraits are wonderful too.
If I could afford it I would join for just one month, but that is not possible at this time.
I am glad you liked the link.
Teri (with 1r) again - lol!
@TLP Beautiful work! And bonus points for being done in oil paints, which I struggle with x20.
