Stan the Chimp-Pencil

Last night’s progress. Not very happy with the hands but think I will wait until the stump is done. Matt commented that might change the contrast. ANyone else do the hands?

I think Matt is right. Do the stump and then revisit the hands if you feel the need. I think she’s looking awesome, June!

I didn’t draw along last night. Had the blahs and didn’t want to mess mine up.

I started a bit late on Wednesday but soldiered through the hands anyhow. I’ll take the advice above and revisit them when the stump is done. I’m really looking forward to the stump. I struggle to capture the beauty of tree trunks and hoping this will help.

June,

Wow you have been doing a lot of art since you returned!! Looking great. Mine is on hold until I can afford to get the right colors. My set just doesn’t have the range to give Stan-Fran the depth she deserves!!

Teri.

Brenda,

Stan-Fran looking great! The job on the hands makes them look so real, as the whole drawing!

Teri

TeresaC,

Stan-Fran is really coming to life for you. I look forward to tackling this one soon!

Thanks, Terri! I’m looking forward to finishing this one. I wonder what we’ll do next!?

Brenda

Hi Brenda -
I would guess that Matt will teach the next one, because often Matt will teach 2 and then Ashley teaches one. I think it will either be pastels or a multi-media (with markers).

Markers would be fun! I just recently got a set of alcohol based markers. I’m looking forward to whatever it is.

Brenda

Markers is one of the few things that I don’t have (yet).

Have caught up with Stan and ready for the stump. Kept going with the inktense.

Brenda,
The inktense pencils are a lot different than watercolor pencils, in that you have to be more precise with color application as they dont mix and blend like watercolor pencils. Layering form lighter to darker seems to work best. Still a fun challenge and great learning process.

I’m finally starting Stan the Chimp, must go get friskit to be able to catch up! The masking fluid i tested on a paper scrap was awful on the arches watercolor paper 140 lbs!! Hopefully I can catch up to the next week’s lesson, if not I’ll follow along with the next new lesson and finish Stan with recorded lessons

Thanks to the postponement I’m trying to start and hope to catch up by then :grimacing:

Congratulation to all of you, still immersed in the creation of Stan. I’m sure I’ll take on the challenge at some point also, but not until this fall or winter. Have fun everyone. I’ll still be watching the Live Lessons with you.

Thanks. I abandoned the project. I may have to go see if I still have it buried around somewhere. I am too ADD for these long drawn out projects. Lol.

It’s ok! I tend to want to go faster by doing some work in between lessons, but this one really caused me to wait! Maybe you can go through the recorded sessions and speed up the process a bit!
