Stan the Chimp-Pencil

Probably won’t be back on forum for a week or 10 days. Here’s my stump as of tonight! What a great lesson!!!

Thank you so much, Teri! I’ve been feeling rather blocked, so tonight’s lesson was really good for me. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you! I’ll be on vacation next week, which should be the final lesson in this series. I have SO enjoyed this project.

Hi Nicole - One of the reasons I like to just watch the live lesson and listen to the chat is to see the overview of the process and lessons learned (sometimes at the end that would help when drawing the early parts). Then when I actually do the project later on, I can do it in a couple weeks, instead of a couple months.

Brenda - this is looking great. Have a wonderful vacation.

Stan is looking good! Great job using watercolor pencils. Super detailed!
But your art is always great
I can’t catch up on time for the next live lesson on July 12th. Will work on it at my own pace and set an alarm to join in the next live lesson.
I haven’t made a color swatch of my set of watercolor pencils to try to match closely the colors i don’t have. So I better get to work!

Thanks, Terri! I can see the finish line!

Last night’s lesson was great! I really like how the stump is progressing even though mine looks nothing like the photo. I’m almost scared to do the final lesson and mess it up. I think I might go outside and try drawing a few tree trunks for practice…

Wow - these are looking great! I will get to my stump soon.

Hi Teresa -
You’re doing great. Hope to see you for the live lesson next week.

Terri Robichon (ps I spell my name Teresa also) :grinning:

Wow! Brenda and Teresa - both of your replications of Stan-Fran are great! I am thinking how to go forward since still can’t get the watercolor pencils, a little out of my price range at this time and prefer to wait to get the set I know I would like, so maybe just watercolor, or perhaps gouache. I still have not decided.

Can’t wait to see everyone’s work completed!

Teri

Done! This was the first time I worked along with the lessons instead of after, and the first time I’ve worked with watercolour pencils. The paper I used was a real challenge (25% cotton, horrible pattern in the texture) but I’m still pretty happy with this. I can’t wait to try another project on proper paper.

Wow! Stan is awesome! I could not rush through all the lessons to catch up with the final live one. I will finish it on my own since so far I completed the grid tracing, the background, and one eye. I have never worked with WC of any kind so I really look forward to completing Stan.
Hopefully I can keep up with the new pastel lesson from the very start! I will have my studio ( the kitchen table haha ) covered with my whole collection of soft pastels while maniacally laughing hugging them all because I LOVE soft pastels!!

Amazing Stan! I do followed along.

I am calling it done. My stumped is very colorful! Lol. This was certainly a fun project and the first time using watercolor pencils on a “serious” project. Learned so much and had great fun.

Awesome! You did great. The live lessons are so fun!

ALL OF YOU THAT POSTED - you did great ! ! ! I have two sets of watercolor pencils but have never done an entire project with them. I think I’ll be giving this project a try later this year when I have more time. Thanks everyone for posting your work along the way. It inspires the rest of us to give it a try.

Ok, little late, but finished the “Stan-Francisco” drawing. Completed with inktense pencils (started with them waiting on watercolor pencils). A little bit different. But please with the result.
