Hi to all my forum friends. As promised, here’s an overview of my Kandiyohi County Fair results for 2025:
In FINE ARTS I had 40 entries. All 40 received 1st place, along with the AWARD OF MERIT, and my most coveted BEST OF SHOW (the only one given for all the entries in Division P Crafts including scrapbooking, photography, fine arts, wood working, etc).
In PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY I had 23 entries. Fifteen received 1st place, and the remaining 8 received 2nd place. Another ribbon which I got and am very proud of is the AWARD OF MERIT for the best of all of the Professional Photography entries. I am definitely not a professional photographer in real life. I’ve had no formal training and have never been paid to take photos for anyone. I’m in this category because I received more than 4 first place ribbons in amateur photography a couple of years ago.
In SCRAPBOOKING I had 14 entries. Eleven received 1st place, one received 2nd place, and 2 had no ribbons.
The SWEEPSTAKES RIBBON was not on display yet when I was at the fair. It often takes a couple days after judging to determine who will receive it for . . . the exhibitor receiving the most Blue Ribbons in Division P Crafts. With a total of 66 first place ribbons, I believe I will get this award as well. If so, it will be the 9th time in a row that I have done so. Worth noting, the first time I got the Sweepstakes ribbon was in 2016 and I only had 7 first place ribbons back then.

I picked up my entries today and brought them back home. Was able to confirm that I did get the Sweepstakes award, as I predicted. So now I’m already underway for next year.

So in my world I had to move and pack my art stuff do to leaking windows. So I took Terri’s advice and have been doing the 25 days of drawing with VI and I am on day 17 so here is what it looks like. I hope to be in my new place by the end of the month and can really go back to creating with all my mediums . I love seeing all the creativity in this community.

Thanks for your kind words and participation here on the forum. The creation of artwork is always a little slower for me after the fair. I’m kind of catching my breath after that last big push to get stuff done. I do have a larger watercolor painting of my dogs that didn’t get finished by the fair deadline. I really want to finish that. I’m also working on the horse race from the live lesson.

I switched over to the derwent eraser because it was the easiest way to get one! Terry , your recommendation seemed not to be possible to get it here to the island.
We have beautiful summer weather with much wind. Windsurfing Paradise for my partner and for me short swimming in the ocean and time to draw☺️.
