Your artwork has been really impressive when ever it appeared during the member’s minute, really cool privilege to have your art displayed. Keep up the good work.
Hello Samuel, thank you so much for your very kind words, and welcome to the forum! Very nice to have you here too!

You Are Very Welcome, it’s really cool to talk and get ideas from different artists, i’m glad the comment was helpful. However, I do have a question for you, have you thought of doing a figure drawing? I know you really like animals, including cats. I was so of interested because figure drawing is sort of difficult for me.
Hi Samuel, thank you for your response and a question.
I actually have done some figure drawings.
You can see my childhood pencil drawing of Sherlock Holmes in the following thread:
You can also see my portrait of Matt here:
There are something like these, although the characters are not drawn fully or showing their back;
And I am going to do a lot more figure drawings later this year because I need to prepare some illustrations of the characters for a novel I’ve been writing for the recent few years. Which, actually, I am very excited about and looking forward to! ![]()
Thank You So Much Maki, that is really cool you are working on Illustrations for your own book, can you say what it’s about? If not that is alright. I’m also working on my own novel, but it’s an off and on kind of project. I also remember that one of the members said you were good in animation, which is something I have been interested in, what would you recommend?
Hello Samuel, thank you for your comment.
I expect that the story will end up as something like the 21st century version of “Utopia”(Thomas More, 1516) , in a lot more scientific context. I mean, the original Utopia is a very social and political work, but I am more interested in how the biological aspects of human beings make it difficult to realize an ideal world. Hopefully I can complete this project around the end of October this year.
As to the animation, you may find these old works of mine interesting.
The first one was screened at a film festival in CO, and the second one was screened at a short film event in Berlin, Germany.
My dear friend Maki.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. I love it when you pop in here from time to time to brighten our day.
Terri
That does sound interesting Maki, hope you can complete your project. The animation was really cute, the style was kind neat, something I hadn’t seen before. What software or program did you use?
Hello Terri @robichon, thank you so much for your comment.
Seriously, I wish I had five more of my clones.
Maki #1: input(reading books, watching films by other directors, music selection etc.)
Maki #2: drawing
Maki #3: reference images search & editing
Maki #4: writing
Maki #5: film making
Maki #6: marketing, product development
Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Hello Samuel @samuel , thank you so much for your comment.
For film editing, I’ve been using Adobe Premiere Elements Ver.12. For modelling, I’ve been a blender user. I also loved the ocean simulation of blender, so much so that I have even made a short film titled “Assorted Oceans”.
Thanks for the recommendations, however, sorry I keep asking questions. I know you are Japanese, and my writing project does relate to japan and it’s culture. Any advice in differences in cultures to keep in mind?
Hi Samuel, thank you for your question.
Maybe I am not the right person to answer the particular question as some people said to me that they could not believe I was a Japanese person. All I can say is that just be honest about what you want to create and put it on every market available. Then, those who relate to your work, regardless of where they are from, will be interested. If you are a business person to be relocated to Japan and need to be part of the society of Japan, you will definitely have to consider what you call “differences in cultures” to make your life in Japan safe and comfortable. But as an artist, I don’t think you will need to do that.
Oh my, Maki,
These are wonderful. Your talents go above and beyond each time I experience another one of your creations.
Yes, you do need a bunch of clones. What you get done on your own multiplied by seven, that would be so much more enjoyment for this world.
When will you be in Berlin? Or will you just send your films in? I ask because Buddy will be in Berlin in August and I am sure she would like to experience the film festival as well as meet you in person if you are attending.
I was just thinking about you these days and how your pen and ink sales were going on Amazon.
Also how your mom is doing.
Keep up with the creativity, the second film was so emotional, it will grab the hearts of many who are there.
Thanks for popping in here and sharing your creations with us.
Your friend,
Teri (the other one)
Hello Teri, it is so nice to hear from you ![]()
My response will be VERY long so I will DM you later.
Thanks again! ![]()
Thanks for the advice Maki, sometimes you sort of worry of not getting the culture right if you were setting a story in a place you have never been, the story is what always comes first before anything else.
Dear Maki,
@TLP Teri was right about me being in Berlin. Will travel next thursday and stay there fore three weeks.
If you like, feel free to send me a note / DM,
Buddy
Hi Buddy,
You see it is the past tense. The screening event in Berlin was held a few years ago. ![]()
Lol - my brain gets easily lost @Maki in times. I was refering to Teri’s comment 2 day ago. Thanks for clarification. Buddy (laughing from under the table - lol)
