Your pictures are amazing
Well said Lucy.

Here’s an unfinished horse I wanted to do as timed drawing or sketch just to practice but started to get carried away to add details as opposed to a loose version. I am leaving it as is because I want to do a color piece with other media. Anyway, just sharing
Terri @robichon
I can’t get over how detailed and clean it is. Beautiful to look at as well ![]()
I had started the horse at the Christmas gathering and did a little more during the new year’s day gathering,

I seat in a corner recliner with my phone. Some moments I draw, others I scroll through my phone. So not really all that noticeable among kids running around. If they do, nobody ever says anything. They like to play pickleball and talking. I just have a couple of pencils and usually a small sketchbook ![]()

The art on this thread is breath-taking. I aspire to improve with such amazing inspiration! That being said, here is my first Canson Mi-Tientes Velvet effort with soft pastels.
Hi Lisa @HarleysMom
As most of you know I love birds of all kinds but I have never done a penguin myself. What a delightful piece of artwork. It brought a smile to my face. Thanks so much for sharing.
Terri
Thank you so much, Terri, I had fun with this little guy. I tried to slow down and layer! Even though I modified the original photo quite a bit, I still plopped the subject right in the middle!
Lisa.
Oh that’s lovely. I love your black and white of the blue jay! They are so often done to accentuate their color, but you have done a great job capturing the beauty in monochromatic.
(At first glance, I thought cardinal, since they also have the pointy head
All that aside, your contrast is phenomenal.)
My 7yo wanted me to ‘draw a dinosaur’ so he could write an invitation for his cousins to come over. I used his dinosaur book as reference, since live subjects are so hard to come by. My water coloring is a bit messy, but he liked it and it was a fun exercise, as I have never attempted any reptile before.
(Woodpecker at Multnomah Falls - Graphite and white charcoal on toned paper)
Was able to visit Multnomah and the other surrounding falls in Oregon last year and this piece was based on that experience. ![]()
Hi Noah.
Travel is a wonderful source for subject matter. You did a great job with this drawing. Thanks so much for sharing, and welcome to the forum.
I hope this is just the first of many visits here.
Terri
Wow! Doing this on Velvet with soft pastels is quite an accomplishment. Did you enjoy that surface? I have some but haven’t tried it yet; I have been concentrating on other things. Great job!
Patricia.
