My work in progress tonight a fox on a 30 x 30 cm canvas board in oil pastel
I’m experimenting before I commit to doing my two commissions
Boards will travel better than paper I think for posting to my clients

For someone who is not fond of using color, you are doing great Jim @1kidneyJD on the peacock.

Looking great @chellesky ! Thanks for sharing all the different media you are trying out.

I am starting to like oil pastels a lot when looking here on forum how people are playing with them. I am saying “playing” because it usually looks like a joyful drawing / painting. Something I will keep in mind to try in a close future.

Keep going.

Lucy.

I haven’t been, and miss it! Thought I’d pop in to see what everyone has been working on.

The end of our homeschool year is always so busy, and it was compounded when my 12yo daughter (the one who drew the goat for the fair) slipped and hit her head, causing the second concussion in 2 years. :face_with_head_bandage: She has dealt with post concussion symptoms since the first and it’s been hard. She’s ok, just getting her the care she needs takes more attention and time. I think she’ll be back to her own art, and I to mine, soon, when we have our school break for the summer (we are always later than most because we take off throughout the school year as we need). She has actually been knitting more because she doesn’t an do that without looking much and and her eyes get tired from too much detail focus.

Hi Chellesky @chellesky

Have you watched any of the weekly critiques that Matt does (called the Members Minute)? Since this is an original piece of artwork (and not one of the lessons) I think this would be a good one to send in to see what Matt has to say. I’m sure he’d love the complementary color scheme (blue and orange).

The Weekly Critique is my favorite member benefit, whether it is my own artwork, or from someone else. I have learned a lot from watching these. Just takes 1/2 hour a week and you can even watch all of the previous ones.

By the way, that plaid pattern on the scarf is crazy good because that is very hard to do with oil pastels.

Hi Teresa @Uxawn99

Can you give us a little more information. What media is used (colored pencils ? same for all 3 or different), type of paper (looks like different surfaces), size, etc. Also, if you’re asking for feedback you need to let us know. I always consider this a place to be kind and positive at all times. I won’t tell anyone how to adjust / improve something unless you ask for that kind of feedback.

Hi Chellesky. By the way, I have had problems sending him something a week ago because it sent before I finished my comment, and the place to attach the photo was missing. If you have trouble just send it to him as an email or wait a week or two and try again.
