Drew myself as a toddler. Graphite on bristol smooth paper 9x12. Used FC matte for the darkest darks. The only existing picture of me at that age. About four hours of work. I didn’t want to go longer than that, because the picture is old (from the 70s) and not the best quality. It’s a picture of a picture. Critiques welcome

Oh Sonia @Meme5 -

This is so incredibly special and well done. Your eyes, the cute little nose and mouth, the delightful pig tails. You ABSOLUTELY MUST send this in to Matt for the members minute.

Thank you for your encouragement. I will send it to Matt, among other past drawings. This portrait of my little self was really fun. Here’s the reference.

I have been wanting to try all of these one hour tutorials. There all really intriguing and I need practice with pastels, a weaker subject for me!

Hello everyone,

All of your artwork are wonderful! I don’t get here as much as I would like so as Jim pointed out, since we can only respond three times, I too have run into this issue.

I want to say how much I enjoy seeing everyone’s wonderful art and thank everyone for sharing.

I will post two here. One is the finished painting I posted a long while back of an autumn landscape in water-mixable oils, a new medium for me.

The next is a rose in a new product I discovered recently by Staedtler, .03 fine line watercolor pens.

I first did the whole peace in stippling, it is small 6 x 8, on Strathmore multimedia paper 400 series then activated it with water.

I liked how I could see all of the marks I made after activating the colors. It was fun to do and took a long time with several breaks in the meantime. Overall I am pleased how this turned out.

Hi Friends. So many of you are posting amazing drawing completed in a blink of the eyes. Here’s an 8x10 drawing I’m working on. So far, I’ve got about 6 hours invested in it. Colored pencils are not a “fast” media, at least not for me. Hopefully posting this will keep me motivated to stick with it until it’s done.

Terri w2r @robichon,

I will keep checking here for a completed red bull drawing.
Also, I just saw the critique on your father’s acrylic portrait. Wonderful work!

Your landscape is beautiful, especially since Fall is my favorite season. I really like the flowers. Thank you for sharing your art and the water activated markers!

Hi Sonia @Meme5
Happy me. I finally finished it. I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils on Strathmore - Bristol Vellum Surface (500 series) paper. It is 8 x 10 so that I can use a standard size matt and frame. This was a lesson I bought years ago from ArtTutor, but that site doesn’t exist anymore. Their new site is called ArtKula.

@robichon Terri,

What a super photorealistic rendition! It blows my mind how easy you make it seem to draw like this. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work. It truly has motivated me to get busy and do more than sketching. I haven’t done colored pencils in a while. I really miss them. I hope I’m making sense since it’s so past my bedtime. Zzzz

Hello Sonia @Meme5

Just a point of clarification. This may look easy, but it was quite challenging. Had to keep forcing myself to go slow and look really carefully at the reference. I did like the paper better than PastelMat on this one. It didn’t need as many layers and was a little smoother for getting the details.

Hello all, it has been sometime & I see there is some great art,
Jane & June with Getting Sketchy,
Teri & that wonderful landscape,
Lenet, your oil painting of the Tiger in water awesome!
Terri, I wanted to pick up that Red Bull can & put it in the recycler, so real!
I have entitled this “Still Flying, Still Standing”. I started this back in July then the 105 degree + temps hit, with no A/C I thought I was working with water soluble graphite. The subjects were done using 4H-4B graphite pencils, The background I used vine & compressed charcoal.
I look forward to any & all comments, critiques. Now the hard part, looking for the next inspirational subject.
Thank you all for being here.
