Hi friends,

Here’s one of my recently completed drawings. It’s an 8 x 10 graphite drawing from a photo I took in my yard just a month ago (April 2nd). I used Stonehenge - White paper.

This looks amazing Terri (@robichon)!
I would say it is a hard topic to capture snow with the graphite pencils but you did a wonderful job!
Well, I think capturing snow with any medium seems like a tough challenge, considering it is a white subject.
I love as well how you managed the trees, love to see all the details, and the grass - it almost feels green! My brain is probably playing some tricks on me
Very very nice! Well done!

Thanks so much Lucy for your kind words. The secret to making snow with a graphite drawing is an electric eraser.

Small sketches… The first one is Luna, the dog of a friend. The drawing is thought as a birthday present.
The second one just for fun drawn in my small (12 to 11 cm) sketchbook.

@Elina

Your friend will sure love her present. I love the wet nose. Keep posting your sketches, I have been slacking on sketching lately, so you’re making me try to find time for it!

Scribbling with my new Cretacolor Marinos… Background with cheap Watercolor pencils from Aldi. Scratching them over sandpaper and activated with spraying water…

Hi Elina -

That’s a great concept for the background. I’m going to try it, but I think it would be better with the subject matter masked off, or painted after the background.

Thank you Terry, absolutely!
I am thinking about trying this mask…in my next order there will be some:thinking:…the flower is painted on the background… maybe would be better to color background less when I know what I want to draw, this picture was a interesting trying out this kind of creating background and all happens planless (I often play around and look what’s happening :innocent:)…and of course I know now much more how to handle the rest better.

I know next to nothing about digital art, but I can say is that I really like it.

@robichon … You made me thinking about materials I can add! And I recognised, it would be nice to have more of good paper.
The paper I used for the flower was one from the Asian shop… Maybe better using this with the kids😅

It is not easy to choose paper for different kinds of drawing well… For me!

A person can never have enough art supplies. One of my favorites is 300lb hot press Arches watercolor paper. It is expensive and almost always can only buy it in big sheets. It is sweet for watercolor with a smooth surface for details. Any wet media works well on it. I’ve even used it for ink, graphite, oil and acrylic painting.

I wouldn’t use it for casual sketching because of the cost.

PastelMat is an all time favorite for pastels and colored pencils because it has a lot of tooth for applying lots of layers.
