Absolutely beautiful.
Help! I spilled some oil on it and it has been eating away at the surface (in the lower left corner). The paper is Bristol Board xtra smooth 250 gsm - is there a way to fix it? I am afraid that once I go over that area with the many layers of pencil the paper will break completely and I will end up with a hole in it.
I am tempted to just start over on a fresh sheet of paper.
And P.S. yesterday was my birthday - and I got a big giftcard for the local art store - so I am going shopping next week!

Oh how frustrating. I’m sorry that I don’t know how to solve this problem. About all I can say is that if it was mine, I’d start again. I know you’ve put a lot of work into it, but you’re still early in the process.

I’m working on this piece right now. It’s Prismacolor pencils on 400 grit black Wetsand paper. I couldn’t find 1000 grit and just wanted to get started. The picture ref is from Pixabay.

You didn’t ask for feedback but there is one suggestion that I thought you may find helpful. I watch all of the Members Minutes and so have had it pounded into my brain that having a good range of VALUE is one of the most important things in art. I think your drawings would be stronger if you made your dark tones a lot darker. Hope this is helpful. Otherwise, I love the drawings you’ve been working on.

Working on this… I had an interesting experience yesterday. It felt like drawing a childish picture… not good…
Then came my partner and was totally excited about this picture… then a friend came and I was like I had to hide this, because it is not good…but she was totally in a big wow… and then the biggest surprise… my friends sister ask if it is possible to buy it, she is fallen in love with the bat picture.
Really special crazy stuff I was invited to receive… sometimes I feel more like a graphite drawing one☺️

Hi Terri , oh I know and I agree it is still my big beginner fault , to some extent in the album cover I wanted the background faint to focus on the figure in the foreground , but Raquel needed to go darker … my fault for being sketchy. I haven’t been arty much , work has kept me too busy , hope you’re well and thriving x

I think all of us need to always remember to push those values further. I’m glad you’ve been posting.
I’ve been well but my sister (for whom I am her guardian) has had a few really rough weeks including hospitalization for pneumonia. So family priorities have kept me away from artwork too.

FINALLY I finished something. It’s just a little 5x7 cupcake on Arches 300# hot press watercolor paper. I used Faber-Castell, Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils. I thought it was kinda sweet (pun intended).
