@Meme5 Thank you! The intense of the color of this picture depents strongly on the light… sometimes they look really light colored…. And yes, in this moment I am totally in intense colours maybe it is supported by our everyday strong sunlight….and of cause it is a kind of childish joy.

I see all your beautiful realistic pictures and have to handle my inner critical persona. What a important experience and evolution to handle this in a selffriendly way

@siffermus Thank@siffermusThank you☺️

Seahorses are touching my heart. They remember to be friendly and full of joy… they are so peacfull, tender beings.

I read in one chat about the possibilities of getting good stuff for drawing.(in Denmark or hungary😅)

In some regions (like here on the canary islands) it is just a job to find one.

I was surching for the post, but did not find it again… maybe my information will find the right person😅…

I found a good one called Artemiranda https://www.artemiranda.com/. Just choose language and country on the top of the. Website)

It is from Spain and they send all over the world. They often have interesting special offers…. My new derwent inktense set was 35% price reduced in July :tada: for example.

And they say they are an old family business…i like to support shops like this

Wow!!! Everyone is sharing wonderful art.

I haven’t shared anything in a while. I’ve decided to focus on watercolor. It’s very challenging for me but I truly love it. I’m hoping that one day Matt considers doing an Intermediate watercolor course. I have done the watercolor course and I have sketchbooks full of tutorials. I struggle with painting my own original work. Anyway, here is my latest effort. It’s called Old Grain Silos. Watercolor on Arches cold pressed watercolor paper.

Any input will be helpful.

Thanks

Carol

Hi Elina,

Are you looking for anything in particular?

I (in Denmark) shop at amazon.de, and at Jacksons Art Supplies from UK and directly from Derwent as well as Penstore.

Very well done. I love the hair on this portrait; hair is so much fun to draw, and you did a great job making it look real.

Hi

I have a quick question. I am working in the Watercolour Workshop, and I wanted to try to stretch the paper. I soaked it in water and left it to dry flat for a couple of hours. Now that I am working with the paper it buckles ALOT more than usual. So much that I think I have to start over with a fresh paper. It is Arches Cold Pressed paper 300gsm. Was I supposed to tape it down while it dried?

Hi @siffermus

Anything that will be wet needs to be completely taped down. Personally my favorite is Arches 300 pound hot press watercolor paper. This is really thick which is why it deals better with moisture. Anyway, I never wet it to start with. I figure out the size of the artwork and then add a margin of half an inch to an inch on all sides. Then I tape it down with 2” wide artist masking tape, making sure each edge is entirely taped down. When painted wet on wet it may bubble up a little but returns to flat as drying.

The only issue is that this paper has to be purchased as individual large sheets that have to be cut down to desired sizes. It is also expensive, so I buy 5 or more sheets at a time to save a little.

Thank you Terri. I placed the wet paper on the drying rack. Next time, I’ll tape it down.

Hi All

Haven’t posted on here for ages but I am watching and reading posts and the displays of all your amazing pieces of art work. I’m In awe at the rate some of you post just piece after piece of wonderful paintings and drawings.

Just thought I would say hello and post progress of my next project ….and ooops “I have bitten off far more than I can chew” I decided (stupidly) to attempt an A3 size colour pencil drawing of an Indian chief with no set reference just ideas from multiple images. Not a great idea as its taken over my life!! (other than work, washing, housework etc ….)and I’ve still got tons to do. Got lots left to do on face, but decided to start on headdress and go back to add detail and further shading later.

I’m determined to persevere and finish this monster while I’m still alive :grimacing:  Might start something else (postage stamp size  ) just to give myself a break.

Comments welcome of progress so far.

This looks amazing @snookypooky ! I was reading the post, enjoying all the info but when I scrolled down and saw the drawing I made a similar face expression like this little emoji :open_mouth:

I can imagine it is taking all the time in the world to draw this but keep going, it looks very very cool! :+1:

I am trying to get to know watercolors a bit better so I decided to draw sth for doing so. I approached it as “coloring book”, so I drew the picture and just colored it.

I was surprised how much I learnt (even thou far from understanding this medium :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:). I enjoyed playing with the colors and water and will continue with this fun while following watercolor course on the side.

Here is my little drawing, first as a sketch:

And here is the colored version

The picture is taken from anime TV show, main character is named Son Goku (I think ).

Size of the sketchbook is around 14x10 cm.
